BtDubZ has it’s own number!
by Bakari on Oct.09, 2009, under About, Technology
I realize that you could have called BtDubZ before using the Google Voice widget on the right sidebar but that was linked to my personal phones. Now BtDubZ has it’s very own number which means any author who posts on BtDubZ can be reached there. Currently, I’m the only author but you gotta look to the future right?
The number is [405]4-BtDubZ or (405) 428-3829 and you can call it directly or click on the Google Voice CallMe widget on the right hand side of BtDubZ.
I got retweeted and now I’m the ish!
by Bakari on Sep.14, 2009, under Random, twitter
Earlier today someone I follow on twitter (USA Network) posted a retweet which caused me to follow someone else. I ended up tweeting about the topic (who you’d burn) and it got retweeted by Burn Notice on twitter. I chose to burn Stephenie Meyer for Twilight (have you seen that movie? It’s horrible, don’t get me started…), Christian Bale and Tom Cruise for their less than positive behavior that seems to surface all to often making them seem like douches on Kanye’s level (the video’s after the jump), and Sarah Palin for getting far far too close to the White House. Apparently the person who run’s Burn Notice on twitter liked my choice and retweeted it, sans the Christian Bale and Tom Cruise remarks. Which just goes to show, other people think Twilight sucked as well. Someone tweeted back in response to it. (continue reading…)
Friends in Photoshop Series [Part 2]
by Bakari on Sep.11, 2009, under Photoshop, Random
Today I’ll be working on another action shot of another friend, Tait. I’m not sure when I’ll start. I’m tired so I might take a nap and participate in the Beat Iowa festivities that feature free food first. Also, I’m not sure what kind of effect I’m going to use or how it will turn out. But it should be interesting to see. I will update this post with pictures and progress as it happens (well a bit after it happens but you get the idea, I hope). Final product available for viewing after the jump. (continue reading…)
Friends in Photoshop Series [Part 1]
by Bakari on Sep.08, 2009, under Photoshop, Random
I’ve decided to chronicle my Photoshop work on my blog. I won’t be posting the pictures tho (at least that’s what I’ve decided for now. I might because I lost all my previous design work). Maybe I should start a “professional” blog as well. Nah, I’ll just migrate the entries should the need to present a professional image arise.
Technically the title is a bit misleading considering my first subject. He’s not really my friend because I don’t know him as I just met him yesterday. But who knows, we might end up friends so I’m gonna leave it. Actually I’m leaving it because later on I’ll be working on my friends. Also, it occurs to me I should insert my pictures when I get done to kinda show a progression. Moving on… (continue reading…)
Special Effects and Photoshop
by Bakari on Sep.07, 2009, under Random, Technology
I’ve been trying to work on my special effects skills with emphasis on Photoshop but it’s difficult because I have no pictures to work with (I’m not going to use stock photos to go in my portfolio). While riding on campus, I saw three guys practicing their… I dunno, physical fitness? They were jumping over the rails doing tricks and the likes when I saw them so I asked if I could take a few pictures and videos so I can work on my special effects skills and they agreed. So now I have pictures to work with. And more reasons excuses not to do the website. Oh laziness!
Thank you to my photography subjects! It’s hard to take pictures of yourself with no tripod (even with a tripod, action photos are difficult). Photographing subjects makes it easier because I can a) direct them and b) not take so many failed pictures. (continue reading…)
My webpage- BakariThomas.com
by Bakari on Sep.07, 2009, under Random, Technology
I’ve decided to start working on my webpage. I’m not really sure what I want it to look like, what’s going to be on it, and all that jazz but I do have a rough idea. Maybe I should get out my sketchbook and draw up some drafts. Except I don’t have my sketchbook anymore. Oh crap I think someone threw it away! Damnit… (continue reading…)
BtDubZ Design- Day 6
by Bakari on Sep.01, 2009, under BtDubZ Design, Ce'Val, Technology
Added Ce’Val to the site. Playing around with the widgets. Also added Google Ads to make some money. Blog’s not gonna pay for itself right? Wrong. If anybody who visited clicked 1 ad, it’d pay for itself. Which is nice cause I haven’t worked since I started this blog. Not cause I’m lazy, just cause my jobs suck and there aren’t hours. I need a new career. Hmm, maybe I should make it out of design. Oh wait, that’s what I’m going to try doing. (continue reading…)
New Twitter plugin
by Bakari on Aug.31, 2009, under Technology
Trying a new WordPress twitter plugin for the blog. Eventually I’m going to figure out how I can make the Twitter API say my blog tweets are from BtDubZ but that’s weeks away. For now, I’m just going to test out TweetSuite. Hopefully I can customize the style of the tweets section in the right sidebar cause Wickett’s Twitter Widget is nice and all but it lacks customization, which is a major con for me. Testing Wordpress Twitter plugin
by Bakari on Aug.29, 2009, under Technology
I’m only posting this to test my latest plugin that’s supposed to tweet whenever I post a new blog entry. It’s called “Tweet This” and hopefully it works better than WP Twitter. I customized the prefix string in WP Twitter and it didn’t work so I’m not using it anymore.
*Update*
So much for “Tweet This”. Had tweet prefix customization but it didn’t actually tweet that way. Using “TweetMyBlog!”. Hmm. Maybe it’ll actually bring me in some money like it claims. Doubt it but why not try?
Blogging vs Tweeting
by Bakari on Aug.28, 2009, under Technology
I’ve had people ask me why both after they found out I tweet and blog. Well it’s simple. A tweet can be about whatever you want and so can a blog post. I analogize tweets to summaries and blogs to essays. If someone does something stupid, I’d tweet about it. If someone does something really stupid that makes me want to talk about it, I’d blog about it.
